WAS DEMOLISHED IN DECEMBER 1986
The Portland Stone foundation plaque above was salvaged from the late Victorian Swimming Baths, which were demolished in December 1986, and placed outside the then newly built Abbey Sports Centre, where it languished admist some overgrown bushes until Mr. Colin Green persuaded London Borough of Barking and Dagenham Council to move it to the new Town Square, adjacent to the Folly.
