Richard Chapman is organising three further coach trips this year: The Forties Family Day at Bletchley Park (of Enigma machine fame) on Sunday 27th May; Dickens World  at Chatham Maritime on Sunday 16th September 2012; Bury St, Edmunds Christmas Fayre on Sunday 25th November  2012. Booking forms available on the information table.

Pat Manley is doing a guided Blackfriars (leisurely) walk on Friday 20th April.  Meet at Blackfriars underground station 7pm (9pm finish). Booking form is in on the information table.

Barking Photographic Society has a coach trip to the Tunbridge Wells Town and Country Show on Sunday 15th July. Contact Bryan on 020 8591 1986.

Our next meeting is Monday 2nd April when Chris Sumner delivers an illustrated talk Revolting Councillors in East London 1921.

Chadwell Heath Historical Society's next talk is Taking the waters by Georgina Green on Wednesday 21st March. Wangey Chapel, Wangey Road,  Chadwell  Heath. 7.30pm. Visitors welcome £1.50 ( plus £1.00 for refreshment). Further details 0208 590 4659.


The next meeting of the Barking Branch of the East of London Family History Society is on Saturday 10th March when they are holding Help and research day . Salvation Army Hall, Ripple Road, Barking 2pm. Further details 0208 592 9540.

The next Friends of Valence House Book Sale at Valence House Museum, Becontree Avenue, Dagenham will be on Saturday 28th April 10am-3pm. Telephone 020 8227 2034 for further details.

Tales from a Monastery is the title of a talk by Chris Cole to be given to the Friends of Valence House at the Valence House Visitors Centre at 2pm on Tuesday 13th  March. Visitors welcome £1.50.  Telephone 01708 769946 for further detasils.

Newham History Society’s next talk is on Tuesday 13th March with  John Blake’s Among my souvenirs: a lifetime of collecting.  Didsbury Centre, Didsbury  Close, East Ham, E6 2RX. 7.45pm. Visitors £2.00.

Havering Library Service is hosting a talk on the Romford Workhouse at Romford Central Library, St. Edwards Way on Thursday 26th April at 1pm. £2.50 library  members, £3.00 non-members.

The Second Chadwell Heath History Fair takes place on Saturday 14th April at the Wangey Chapel, Wangey Road, Chadwell Heath 10am – 4pm. Admission free. We will be having a  stall at this event.

The annual classical concert in the Barking Abbey ruins is on Saturday 2nd June 7.30pm – 10pm. Admission free.
