Peggy Maloney has kindly supplied some photographs for our website. They include the wedding of Margaret E. Wild and Henry Sharp of Hackney. The ceremony took place at St. Margaret's church on 25th December 1922 and the photograph was taken on the allotments at the bottom of 54 Oban Road, Barking. On the marriage certificate bride and groom are respectively described as spinster and bachelor. Both were aged 26. Henry's address is given as 32 Glynn Road, Clapton Road. He and his father, another Henry, were both glass bottle blowers. Margaret's father, George Henry Wild - a French polisher, was deceased. The witnesses were another George Henry Wild and Florence E. Wild.

Aunt Margaret Wild was Peggy's mothers eldest sister.

The photograph above was taken at 54 Oban Road, Barking and shows Peggy's grandmother with six of her eight children. The girl on the right is Peggy's mother. Peggy's aunt lived here until the estate was pulled down to build flats etc. The house at 54 Oban Road was only a two up two down dwelling.

Charabanc outing from Barking to Yarmouth in the 1920s. Peggy says the family always went to Great Yarmouth as her uncle and aunt lived there. Yarmouth was linked to Barking because of the fishing smack connections. The photograph was taken in Yarmouth. Peggy's mother is one of the ladies standing at the back.
