Natural History Museum, South Kensington

The magnificent mammoth skull is displayed, behind glass, in the grand central hall. A copy is on show in the mammal gallery. The Aveley elephant and mammoth are displayed in the Earth Science galleries near the Flett Lecture Theatre.


Museum of London, Barbican

A fine array of Ilford fossil bones is beautifully displayed in the Museum of London. Some of the finds have original labels. Bones from Grays and elsewhere in London are also exhibited

Grays Thurrock Museum, Grays Town Centre

The museum is located with the library and theatre. Some fossil bones and flint handaxes are well displayed. The history of chalk extraction at Grays and Purfleet and brick and tile manufacture are explained.
