SOCIETY NEWS

My thanks to Bill Dale for agreeing to deliver today’s talk at such short notice – Bill will be talking to us about his work on the railways.

We have coach trips arranged  to Capel Manor Gardens and Vintage Vehicle display on Sunday 8th September and the Dickensian Christmas Festival at Rochester on Sunday 8th December. Booking forms are available on the information table.

Pat Manley is doing another guided walk for us on Friday 7th June and the theme is The Great Fire of London. No need to book, just turn up! £5 per person. Meet  at Monument Station (Fish Street entrance) 6.30pm.

We had a stall at the Dagenham Community Day last month at the Dagenham and Redbridge Football Club; it was a slow start, but greatly picked up in the afternoon. I would like to thank Richard Chapman and Irene Flitcroft for their invaluable  help at the event.

We do not meet in July or August, but our next meeting is on Monday 2nd September when members of the Handley Page Association will be giving an illustrated talk on Handley  Page: the Barking and Dagenham connection.
