The Society

Our week long 80th anniversary exhibition 'Our Past/Your Past' at Valence House Museum to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Society (in conjunction with the Chadwell Heath Historical Society  celebrating its 20th anniversary) was a great success with a total of 171 visitors. I must thank Bill George for the loan of a number of items including a painting of the Princess Alice disaster, the Barking signal  box visitors’ book and a work by Chadwell Heath artist Glindoni. Thanks also to the following people who acted as stewards during the week: Richard Chapman, Pat Manley, Nigel Harcombe and June and Alan Johnson. Many members visited the exhibition including the intrepid Ella Grimmer who came on three separate  days! I am extremely grateful to Teresa Trowers at Valence House without whom the exhibition would not have taken place.
