Visit to the Granary Building/Ice House Quarter, River Roding
80 Abbey Road, Barking, Essex IG11 7BT
on Thursday 16th October 2014

14 members and friends enjoyed a fascinating visit by courtesy of Rooff and Co. This project has created business premises and offices for Rooff as well as flexible studios for creative entrepreneurs. The best of the structure and character of the old former industrial buildings have been preserved and retained, whilst stunning, high quality, modern additions and refurbishment have enhanced the site and given it a modern use. This visit showed the tremendous potential that this previously rundown area of Barking now has and how Rooff are unlocking and developing this prime area.

The Granary Building, which probably dates from the 1860s,  has been greatly altered and modifield during its long chequered history. The site is adjacent to the Roding and affords magnificent views of the river.
