The Society > Chronology

1977 March	Kenneth Glenny, 4th president died.
1978	Gwen Shields, a librarian, became chairman.
1982 September	Titanic survivor Eva Hart gave a talk to the Society.
1983	AGM agreed to re-introduce “and district” into the Society’s title.
1984	November Society’s Golden Jubilee. A taped message was received from 100 year old Colonel Loftus in South Africa and was played at an anniversary celebration at Barking Central Library on 7th November 1984.
