MONTHLY NEWSLETTER DECEMBER 2014
SOCIETY NEWS

Sincere condolences go to our president Bill George on the recent death of his mother.

On a happier note Bill appeared on BBC’s The One Show last month.

Bill and I were at the Broadway Theatre, Barking on November 6th to jointly receive the English Heritage Schools’ Partner Award  from Elizabeth Kangethe, the Mayor of Barking and Dagenham for the work the society has undertaken with local schoolchildren. Singer Billy Bragg performed at the same event (Heritage Schools’ Showcase).

The Barking and Dagenham CVS at Ripple Hall are very keen to hear from anyone who attended St. Paul’s Church in Ripple Road, Barking, which was destroyed by enemy action on 14th  January 1945. They are planning a 70th anniversary ceremony and hope to find either members of congregation or their descendants. Please let me know if you have any information,  photographs, etc.

There is no January meeting. Our next meeting is on Monday 2nd February when Peter Jennings will deliver a talk on Anglo-Saxon life.
