Events

The Treasures of Lambeth Palace Library: 400th anniversary exhibition continues at Lambeth Palace until 23rd July. The ancient manuscripts on display include Treatise on virginity and celibacy written by Aldheim, Abbot of Malmesbury for Abbess Hildelith and her nuns at Barking Abbey!

The Royal Anglian Regiment will parade through the streets of Barking on Tuesday 15th June to mark its freedom of the borough. The parade starts in Wakering Road at 12.30pm.

The new Havering Museum in the High Street, Romford finally opened its doors last month. It is open from Wednesday to Saturday 12 noon-5.00pm each week. £2.50 entrance fee (£2.00 seniors).

Barking Photographic Society has seats available on its coach trip to the Military Odyssey at the Kent County Showground on Sunday 29th August. Contact Bryan Tester on 020 8591 1986 for further details.

London Open House Weekend is 18th and 19th September. Brochures listing all the events will be available from local libraries nearer the date.

Julian Whybra is guest speaker at The Friends of Valence House meeting at St. Mary's Church, Grafton Road, Dagenham on July 13th at 2pm. His topic will be
Lost on the Somme.
