Tiptree Jam Museum, cafe and shop
and
Ingatestone Hall
Our visit starts at Tiptree where there will be ample time to sample the delights of the jam factory. The museum is packed with items relatings to the Wilkins family and fruit farming and much more. Then on to Ingatestone Hall, ancestral home of Lord Petre, whose ancestor accepted the surrender of Barking Abbey from the Abbess when Henry VIII dissolved the monasteries. We will be given a short introduction by a steward.
